Whom to contact to say NO! to federal financial support to SBC leaders

If you do not want taxpayer money to be used by corrupt SBC leaders to entrench themselves even further and engage in their usual swamp nepotism, then let your concerns be known to these people:

Nancy Pelosi https://pelosi.house.gov/contact-me/email-me . Pelosi is the Speaker of the House, the highest ranking member of the House of Representatives.

Mitch McConnell https://www.mcconnell.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contact?p=ContactForm . McConnell is the Senate Majority Leader, and the highest ranking Senator.

Chuck Schumer https://www.schumer.senate.gov/Contact/email-chuck. Schumer is the Senate Minority Leader, and the highest ranking Democrat in the Senate.

Kevin McCarthy https://kevinmccarthy.house.gov/contact . He won’t respond to any emails from outside his district but you can give him a piece of our mind at the phone and fax numbers on that contact page.

General rules: Keep your correspondence simple. Focus on the ethical problems (corruption, lack of transparency, discrimination, retaliation) within the SBC. None of these legislators will be receptive to discussions about the leftward or wayward ideological drift of Russell Moore. Be nice, of course, but point out that taxpayer funds should not be funneled toward people who have a history of abusing their power. If you focus on how the SBC has mishandled sex abuse, racial issues, and global missions, you will probably have traction with people across the political spectrum. You may also want to emphasize that the SBC is a Christian organization that has mistreated people who uphold the Baptist Faith and Message, and the denomination is not defending religious liberty and therefore disserves its purpose. If you want to mention educational funding, be sure to mention that SBC educational entities are not providing good training to Baptists and are giving many degrees to people who have dim chances of working in ministry. Teachers within the Baptist mission have no academic freedom and these schools should not even be accredited in many cases.

You can also contact your own representative in the house by going to this search engine: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative .

You can find your senators here (remember, you have two!): https://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm
